Netball Project

We have received wonderful support from England Netball and the Netball Association of Malawi, to bring netball to young girls in Mangochi.

During the summer of 2009, three local people from Mangochi attended a netball coaching and umpiring course, run by NAM, so that they could hold regular training sessions in the community. They really do work tirelessly, training every week and trying to arrange friendly matches whenever possible.

In November 2009, we held a School Netball Tournament. 57 schools from 4 different zones competed in the knock out stages, with the winner from each zone reaching the semi finals and the lucky two schools competing in the final. The day would not have been possible without the support of Gilbert Balls who donated over 90 netballs. We were able to distribute one to each school that took part and also keep some for our regular training sessions. Thank you Gilbert!

Helix and Ryman Stationer's very kindly donated school equipment for the winning and runner up schools.

Since then, we have carried on with the community training and are really pleased to see girls coming along and enjoying themselves.

Thanks also to all the UK clubs who have donated kit and bibs, we are always grateful for any donations if you are renewing your kit.
