Football Project

Our aim is to offer quality training in a safe, FA Level 1 coachingsupportive environment that allows the children to fulfil their potential.

To help achieve this, we were very proud to send George, Charles and Maxwell, three members of the local community in Mangochi on the FA level 1 coaching course. The FA was holding the training course, which lasted for one week, in Blantyre, Malawi during November 2008. It allows our coaches to train the children of Mangochi to a recognised standard. All three of them received certificates on completion of the course.

Football is one of the most popular sports all around the world, and this was the first sport that we introduced to the Academy. We collected kits, balls, bibs boots and pumps and sent them out to Malawi. Charles Nyirenda meeting playersWe then held our first school football tournament and official launch of the Academy on October 12th 2008 which was a great success. Helping us launch the Academy was Charles Nyirenda the Chief Executive Officer of the Football Association of Malawi. It was also attended by thousands of supporters and ministers of sport and education.

Each school that took part, in the under 12 and under 15 age groups received a donation of footballs, and the winning and runner up schools kept their kit as well as receiving a trophy and cash prize.

We are now concentrating on holding regular training sessions to help the youngsters improve their skills and knowledge of football, as well as enjoy all the benefits that come with taking part in sport and exercise.
