About Us Nutrition & Sanitation |
Welcome to the Mangochi Youth Sports Academy! We would like to thank Pro Direct Soccer who recently donated some footballs. The boys are pictured below with director Lewis Kamundi. This is great news because it allows the boys to continue training and competing in friendly matches.
We believe that the physical, social and emotional development of children can be improved through the power of sport using games that teach fair play, leadership, team work and respect. Issues that affect the lives of children in Malawi such as HIV/AIDS and nutrition can be tackled in a non-threatening way that helps children reach their full potential in sport and life.
Sports equipment, even balls, are so lacking in Mangochi that the opportunity to take part in sporting activities has already seen an increase in enrolments at local schools. This is fantastic news as the attendance rates for secondary school age children drops dramatically in Malawi. We want this to continue with the introduction of other sports to benefit as many different people as possible. Our policy is to encourage as many youngsters as possible back into education, and so offering them the opportunity to improve their futures. To find out more about our recent activities please read our website. If you would like to help us to continue, please click on the Donate link. Thank you. NEWS! After much work, Mangochi Youth Sports Academy was registered as an NGO with Congoma in Malawi. Three people from Mangochi attended a Netball Association of Malawi coaching and umpiring course in July. This year’s sports tournament will be on 28 November. The winning school will receive a box of school equipment as well as a trophy. Can you donate school books or stationery towards this? Please contact us on: Malawiyouthdream@yahoo.com. Thank you Gilbert, for donating 92 netballs to be distributed amongst the schools taking part in this years school netball tournament. We are very grateful and they will bring a lot of enjoyment to the girls. Malawi Youth Dream has been selected as one of the charities of the year for the Face of Malawi event, to be held in Manchester on October 31st. Wre are really proud to be chosen and are looking forward to a great evening. Malawi are ranked 5th in the world in netball and we went to see them at the World Netball Series in Manchester. They performed brilliantly and we were pleased to meet some of the team as well as the President of the Netball Association of Malawi, representatives from Gilbert balls, Malawi Council of Sports and England Netball, who have been a great support. |
